Make Good Choices...

Each morning I drop my babies off, give them a big kiss, juicy ones for Elijah (this means puckering of the lips several times), tell them to have a good day and "make good choices". I then say I love you and am out the door.
It is important to me that they each know to "make good choices". I tell them all the time that we choose to do the things we do, or not to do. We choose to work hard in school, we choose to be around good people, we choose to Bless our food before eating it, we choose to not make bad decisions, we choose to be kind to our classmates and teachers. We choose to be helpful.
If they make good choices, then they will be successful; emotionally, physically, and as a person of our society!
When Little Man does something "wrong" I tell him not to do bad things. When he gets in trouble he says "I wanna be a good boy". I tell him that he is ALWAYS a good boy, he just chooses to do bad things. I realize that at 3 he isn't going to get this. However, I hope that as he gets older he will put this together and realize that he is a good and wonderful person all the time. That sometimes we make mistakes, sometimes things happen to us, that sometimes the day just isn't so great; but that he is a good person, and that he can make good choices, and that the bad things that happen are just that, things that happen, and to forgive his mistakes and move on.
When NaNa goes off to school each day, I want her to make good choices for herself. She is a good girl, the best! However, as she is in her Tween stages now, and quickly heading into her teen years, it is so important that she make good choices for herself. Choose to not be like everyone else, choose to not participate when others are being mean or hurtful, choose to be respectful to the teachers and her classmates, choose to be helpful, choose to not do drugs or use profanity, choose to do good things! If she makes the right choices now, and is happy with these choices, she will continue to grow as this beautiful girl that brings so much kindness and heart to the world!
So, where is this all coming from? Where is it all going? I just wanted everyone to remember today to "make good choices"! If you do the best you can for yourself and others, and if you know you did it with GOOD intent, there will be no regrets later! Even if the situation doesn't come out the way you had hoped, you did the best you could do and with good intent!

Here are a couple of Quotes for the day... (Aw, look at me so full of wisdom!)

"Make divine choices. This is a matter of refusing to make a choice based upon the expectations of others. Instead, you decide to act in ways consistent with your purpose and who you really are."--Dick Sutphen

"When given the choice between being right or being kind, always choose kind."--Dr. Wayne Dyer

"When we choose actions that bring happiness and success to others, the fruit of our karma is happiness and success."--Dr. Deepak Chopra

Life is the sum of all your choices. ~Albert Camus

“Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice: It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.” ~ William Jennings Bryan

“Character is the sum and total of a person's choices.” ~ P.B. Fitzwater

I like your choice of words! Sounds much better than "be a good boy", because as you say, children are good!
